Higher Ground Hotel - Independence

The rooms are spacious, very clean and newly renovated. Very friendly staff.

The location in Independence is questionable: It seems that the neighbourhood a few crossroads away is run down with oddish people on the street.

Thanks for a wonderful stay. We loved the large room since there were 3 of us, and the location was great for the reasons we were there. We would book again if we return someday.

I loved they homey atmosphere! The room were a nice size, and it was the perfect location for the things we wanted to see in Independence. I highly recommend it!

The hotel is very comfortable and very clean. Also, the garden was beautiful and a wonderful place to relax.

Was upgraded to King size room. Very pleasant room, very clean. Staff were very obliging and helpful. Breakfast adequate. Would highly recommend. Many historic sites very close to the hotel in Independence

It is comfortable, well decorated, quiet and centrally located close to historic civil war and Truman era cites. AndI it is just a short drive to the Kansas City attractions.

Room was very spacious and comfortable. Staff was exceptionally friendly. Nice quiet neighborhoof.

The people in the next room were very loud and noisy. Not the hotels fault though.

The room was very clean. Bed comfortable and breakfast excellent. Gorgeous gardens and friendly informative hosts. We loved the location as we were there to do all the Truman things and were right across the street. We also loved the WW1 museum.

Having an owner proprietor who has pride in his facility, and knowledge of the surrounding area, is definitely a positive experience for the guest who stay at The Higher Ground Hotel. 'K' and Rita are welcoming, helpful, and receptive to your needs.

Nicely appointed and overall clean hip new hotel. Huge, spotless room with a private bathroom and a shower, hairdryers, and towels. Delightful views towards garden. Very amiable staff, friendlyservices, including a wide range of pleasant delicacies. Ideal location in the very very nice area, right by the square, where there are several of eating establishments to choose from, the many other attractions and the Mormon churches. Pleasant stay, as always.

For our purposes it was close to the CoC locations... And also to the shops where we ate on several occasions. The availability of a continental breakfast was good. That for the most part was an adequate start to each day. I did appreciate the special attention offered at check in (larger bedroom) The WiFi availability was especially helpful... and gave no problems. * I did note that when the computer was connected, it disabled the phone. This was no problem but others less technically aware may not realise that this can happen.

Excellent value for money. Couldn't fault any aspect of our stay.

Would recommend for a brief hiatus

Charming place, inviting atmosphere, with clean linens that smelled fresh and a cozy feel, made us feel at home, complemented by the convenient location just a short walk away from the historic square and the Truman Library.

Breakfast was just okay.
